If you've been following things in SP1 land, you'll notice that's actually ahead of the neat and tidy Windows Update launch for non-x64 systems, but behind the unofficial options already available. On the upside, that should mean that all the bugs have been ironed out, but you can... 591 Views | 3 Replies

by Chewy on February 20, 2008, 08:02:51 PMMicrosoft announces games for Zune via XNA Studio
Looks like games are coming for the Zune after all! Microsoft just announced XNA Studio developers will be able to use the Zune as a multiplayer wireless mobile gaming platform. Details are sparse at this point, but it looks like it's going to be second gen Zunes only, since it was specifically mentioned that it'd take advantage of the touchpad controls. We'll let you know more as we get it.

by Chewy on February 20, 2008, 06:59:55 PMOkay, these are they ways you can gain access to the private section.. 1. Make 100 posts and you will gain access to the private forums. 2. Win the current contest that is going on. 3. Make a donation of $5. Why pay? It motivates you to post instead or FIND active posters instead which ultimately helps the site grow! The private sections have methods of gaining money/giftcards/items in certain ways I cannot say . I've made over $200 in Visa giftcards from one of the sites listed, gotten a Zippo lighter, and more! So what do you say? Help the community grow and post! 315 Views | 3 Replies

by Chewy on February 19, 2008, 01:19:56 PMIt's official. Toshiba just made a statement saying, " it will no longer develop, manufacture and market HD DVD players and recorders." Cessation of the player and recorders are targeted for March 2008. Volume production of HD DVD disk drives for PCs and games will end in the same time frame. However, Atsutoshi Nishida, President and CEO of Toshiba Corporation did say that Toshiba will, "continue to assess the position of notebook PCs with integrated HD DVD drives." That's it folks, the format war is over, Blu-ray has won. Full press release after the break.
Update: Besides... 300 Views | 5 Replies

by Links 2 3 4 on February 18, 2008, 08:32:51 PM"This one's still just a bunch of whispers and coincidences, but we've been hearing that Apple may lower prices on the iPhone and iPod touch in the next few months and drop the 8GB touch. Word is that falling flash prices coupled with the desire to introduce the 3G iPhone at an attractive price point will lead to the 16GB iPhone falling to $399, along with similar touch price drops: 16GB for $299 and 32GB for $399. It's not clear what'll happen to the 8GB iPhone, but everyone seems to agree that the 8GB touch is on the way out -- we actually think a $199 8GB touch would fly off shelves, but that's probably... 224 Views | 3 Replies

by Links 2 3 4 on February 18, 2008, 08:23:57 PM"Despite Red's inability to make any real public statement, Japanese publication Nikkei has it that Toshiba president Atsutoshi Nishida will be announcing the final discontinuation of HD DVD tomorrow, as well as halted sales of hardware and media by March (as in days from now). Apparently Toshiba will pull its units from retail shelves, but has no intention to give burned early adopters any refunds (no kidding?); it sounds like the ceasefire will include the bare PC drives as well, so those hoping to keep using HD DVD as a personal data storage medium probably won't have much luck. Apparently the announcement will come... 190 Views | 1 Reply
